Debra Simpson, owner of
Magic In Words, began her career in publishing in 1990 as the publisher
of The Business Resource (formerly known as Networks), a small business
newspaper in San Diego County.
In 1995, McGraw-Hill lured her away to the world of multimedia
and Web publishing, and recognized Debra as the Author of the Year
in Multimedia Development in 1996. Thus began Debra’s adventure
in digital media development. She subsequently spent four years
programming McGraw Hill’s vast collection of Websites.
When McGraw Hill closed their Carlsbad office, Debra re-entered
the entrepreneurial realm, developing and implementing Web 2.0 Internet
marketing strategies for the small business community. As a blogger
and podcaster, Debra keeps the cyberspace community informed of
the activities of North San Diego businesses by producing North
San Diego Business@Large podcasts, in which she regularly interviews
business owners. Her podcasts can be found at North
San Diego Business.
Debra speaks throughout Southern California to small business
organizations on the many ways a business can present itself on
the World Wide Web. She teaches low cost, no cost forms of marketing
business to the online community, increasing business visibility
and driving traffic to Websites, while creating passive income through
the sale of information products.
She can often be found participating in online business expos,
sharing with the attendees how blogging and podcasting can benefit
their businesses. She has been a featured speaker at the International
Podcasting Expo, the Work At Home Moms Expo, the International Business
Expo, and at the SCORE arm of the US Small Business Administration.
Debra regularly presents webinars in her virtual conference room.
